Cejka Search has been exclusively retained by Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine of St. Louis, Missouri to assist in the recruitment of an accomplished physician leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. This leader will also serve as the Pediatrician-in-Chief for SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
The Chair of Pediatrics is responsible for setting the strategy and vision while directing all clinical, education, and research objectives for the department. In collaboration with SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and SLU School of Medicine, the Chair will serve as an integral leader to position the Department of Pediatrics for future growth, advance the academic and education mission, and support the clinical mission of expanding pediatric services and programs regionally throughout Missouri and Illinois.
Reporting to the position of Vice President Medical Affairs and Dean of SLU School of Medicine, the Chair of Pediatrics will be a visionary leader who will set the strategy on clinical delivery, lead and improve clinical operations and services, serve as an advocate for educational advancements, and support the research endeavors at the Edward A. Doisy Research Center, which is an 8-floor research center with 80 laboratories.
SLU School of Medicine employs the Faculty Practice Plan, SLUCare Physician Group, which encompasses 600 providers in more than 50 specialties. Over 150 faculty support The Department of Pediatrics with 16 pediatric subspecialty services, 52 residents and 20 pediatric fellows. SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, leading academic medical center with a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU. Sitting adjacent to SLU School of Medicine, the 195-bed Magnet designated children’s hospital is the main practice location for the Department of Pediatrics and is committed to improving the overall health of the pediatric population in the surrounding communities throughout St. Louis and Illinois region.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic leader in the field of pediatrics and have a track record of expanding clinical programs, recruiting and developing faculty, and focus in enhancing clinical research. Current Board certification in pediatrics, and/or a medical subspecialty, eligibility for a Missouri medical license and credentials for an academic appointment at SLU School of Medicine are required.
