Job Summary The Director of Pharmacy assumes legal responsibility and carries out the leadership and operational functions for CHOC's pharmaceutical services and designated as the Pharmacist-in-Charge" on CHOC's hospital pharmacy license. Ensures that the departments' objectives are synchronized with the overall mission and financial/clinical goals of the organization. Takes the prime role in addressing CHOC's response in "bridge" between Administration and the Medical Staff to sensitize them to these important issues and collaborates with them individually and in an organized manner to solve compliance problems. Develops clinical pharmacy programs that support the nursing and medical staff and other allied health associates in delivering care; contributes to both clinical and financial positive patient outcomes. Provides input to professional organizations and regulatory agencies that impact pharmacy practices at CHOC. Experience * Required: Minimum five (5) years as a senior manager in an academically oriented or pediatric facility. * Preferred: Over three (3) years of experience as a Director of Pharmacy strongly preferred. Education * Required: Doctor of Pharmacy. * Preferred: MBA; completion of an ASHP accredited residency program. Training * Required: None required. Specialized Skills * Required: Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork; understands and exceeds customer expectations. Knowledge of Family-Centered Care Concepts and Quality Improvement methodologies. Demonstrated skill in collaborating with medical staff, allied health professionals, peers and staff. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities concurrently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully provide/promote safe care within the parameters of licensure and regulatory requirements, practice requirements and hospital systems. Excellent conflict resolution skills and proven ability to effectively lead teams to consensus. Budgeting, variance tracking and productivity monitory. * Preferred: Working knowledge of managed care and capitation principles. Experience with budget and productivity systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
