Saint Luke’s Health System (St. Luke’s) and the Marion Block Neurosciences Institute announce an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished leader in neurosciences to serve as Chief, Department of Neurology and Co-Medical Director of the Neuroscience Service Line.
The Chief and Co-Medical Director of the Neuroscience Service line will provide the strategic leadership and direction for clinical operations; be responsible for the delivery and expansion of neurology services; lead physician recruitment, retention, and development; and grow and advance clinical research trials for the integrated neuroscience services across the health system. The Department of Neurology holds a long tradition of delivering high quality, cutting-edge, patient-centered and coordinated care while the St. Luke’s Marion Bloch Neurosciences Institute is a Top 50 ranked center in neurology, a leader in treating complex brain and spinal cord diseases, and nationally ranked for its stroke program. The neurologists collaborate in a multidisciplinary team approach to treat a full spectrum of neurological conditions which include epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders, migraines and concussions, memory disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and other movement disorders.
Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is 629-bed facility, making it one of the largest faith-based care hospitals in the region and the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine with 120 Residents and Fellows including a Neurology Residency Program. With a network of more than 600 physicians in over 60 medical specialties the hospital is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the elite hospitals in the nation. The Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute is home to an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Spine Center, a Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, a Multiple Sclerosis Center, and the Midwest Ear Institute.
St. Luke’s supports 18 area hospitals and campuses across the Kansas City Region with dozens of physician practices and outpatient centers and holds a reputation for exceptional customer service, dedicated to research and innovation, and state-of-the-art facilities and technology. The Chief of Neurology and Co-Medical Director, Neuroscience Service Line will report to the Senior Vice President/Chief Executive Officer of Saint Luke’s Physician Group and work in a dyad leadership model with the Chief of Neurosurgery/Co-Surgical Medial Director of the Neuroscience Service Line to set the vision for the advancement of clinical programs, research and education. The Chief and Co-Medical Director will also serve as the Endowed Chair for the Neurosciences Division at UMKC School of Medicine.
The successful candidate will be recognized as an outstanding leader with an excellent track record in clinical care, teaching and clinical research. Candidates must demonstrate a strong vision for achieving excellence in clinical care and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with running a large department within a premier health system. Proven success in the areas of quality, performance management, program development and expansion, physician recruitment and retention and institutional collaboration within a large health system are essential. Successful candidates will hold an MD or MD/PhD or equivalent, have completed an ACGME accredited residency in neurology, and maintain current board certification in their area of specialty. Eligibility for an unrestricted Missouri medical license is required.
