This position directs, monitors, and reports to UAB Health System (“Governing Body”) and leadership the status of ongoing accreditation and regulatory readiness and compliance for UAB Hospital inpatient and outpatient operations as well as non-hospital based ambulatory clinics. Responsible for managing the overall development and implementation of systems for effective and efficient compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission Standards, and other state and federal regulatory bodies within a model of Continuous Survey Readiness (CSR). Responsible for oversight and management for participation with CMS and Joint Commission requirements for outcome and process core measures as required in the Inpatient and Outpatient Prospective Payment Systems. Responsible for oversight and management of participation in numerous clinical data registries. Directs quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes for all areas of regulatory compliance. Implements and updates the policies and procedures covering the regulatory compliance programs. Working collaboratively with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Corporate Compliance Office and Facilities Management, provides internal organizational consultation for regulations and standards impacting the organization.
Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field of study. CPHQ certification required. Experience with accreditation and survey preparedness required. Minimum of five years in a management or leadership role overseeing regulatory compliance in a complex healthcare environment. Proficient knowledge of health care regulations including the Joint Commission Standards and CMS Conditions of Participation with ability to apply regulatory/accreditation standards related to multiple clinical areas in both the inpatient and outpatient operations. Ability to present and discuss regulatory compliance goals and opportunities in a way that establishes rapport, influences others and gains strong commitment. Ability to manage complex projects. Strong understanding of data analysis tools. Strong liaison skills: team player, knowledgeable and skillful in group dynamics. Excellent verbal and written skills. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web-based applications.
