Regional Medical Director in CA – Full Time + Benefits
VITAS Healthcare is seeking an experienced, board-certified physician with a passion for end-of-life care to oversee our California programs as a Regional Medical Director. As a VITAS Regional Medical Director, you will provide leadership to our California hospice programs with a commitment to our mission of preserving the quality of life for those at the end of life.
Lead a team of hospice physicians in the interdisciplinary delivery of hospice care consistent with VITAS’s standard of care
Educate medical staff and other healthcare professionals about our hospice program and the potential benefits we offer to those that we serve
Recruit, select and train VITAS medical directors and physicians

Full-time position. Up to 50% travel may be required.
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree
5-10 years of experience as a practicing physician
Demonstrated administrative/managerial responsibilities in a health-care setting
Demonstrated knowledge and well-developed skills in:
General medicine and pharmacology
Palliative medicine, pain and non-pain symptom control
Psychosocial and spiritual care for the dying
Medicare and Medicaid/MediCal regulations as they relate to hospice and palliative medicine
Conditions of Participation in the Medicare Hospice Benefit
Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to write scheduled prescriptions
Member in good standing on the medical staff of an accredited California hospital
