The Medical University of South Carolina, College of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a full-time physician to work at a satellite facility in beautiful and historic Georgetown, SC. The clinic is currently in the process of re-locating (anticipated late spring, 2018) to Murrells Inlet, SC, part of the Grand Strand Beaches of South Carolina, considered some of the loveliest coastal shores in the United States. The move to Murrells Inlet better positions the practice to be closer to its current population base in a rapidly developing and dynamic setting. The center is a strategic partnership between the local hospital system, Tidelands Health, and the Medical University of South Carolina. The physician would carry a faculty rank based on experience and would have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, resident education and multidisciplinary patient care. Whereas the primary role is to be the medical director and lead physician at this center, he/she would be integrated into the overall programs of the Medical University of South Carolina. The Hollings Cancer Center of MUSC is a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center. The flagship campus has the most modern equipment and treatment planning software available including the three Varian TrueBeams, a GammaKnife, and a Tomotherapy unit as well as two CT/Simulators and treatment planning stations. The satellite is fully independent technologically with its own linear accelerator, CT/simulator, treatment planning system and a high dose rate brachytherapy unit. A TrueBeam is being purchased for the new facility in Murrells Inlet. The current center in Georgetown is American College of Radiology accredited. The Department supports an ACGME accredited residency program for physicians and a CAMPEP accredited residency program for physicists. The physician would be afforded the opportunities for career advancement.
