The Minneapolis VA Health Care System, a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota, seeks a physician to lead our growing interdisciplinary primary care-based pain services. The incumbent will spend approximately 50% clinical effort providing outpatient care or consultative co-management care for veterans with chronic pain, with the remaining 50% effort protected for administrative, quality improvement, educational and/or research activity. This is a primary care-based position that will involve working in partnership with leaders and clinicians in other specialties, including outpatient mental health, addiction psychiatry, pharmacy, specialty pain, and research services. Responsibilities include chairing the hospital pain committee and collaborating with leaders of our established opioid safety program. Additional duties may be negotiable, depending on interests and expertise. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and experience or advanced training in chronic pain or addiction. This position offers an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota, competitive salary, and excellent benefits package with the possible recruitment incentive, and performance pay.
